Rich and Esther Beitzel   “Basic Portraiture – It’s That and More!”

Gain control and confidence for your portrait photography.  Learn about lights, modifiers, ratios and patterns of light.  Understand basic posing concepts that flatter your subject.  Use composition to merge the subject with the background and props.  Pickup tips to avoid “fuddling” during a session.  Rich will show you how to work with a variety of subjects using studio lighting, window light, outdoor lighting and on location techniques.  In order to try out your newly acquired knowledge, he will hand out assignments and turn you loose.  Studio workflow, sales and marketing will wrap up the week, plus Rich’s insights on portraiture's most important aspect – psychology!

Janice Wendt   “Recapture Your Vision - Image Enhancement Techniques”

Ever wonder why your captured images do not live up to your expectations.  The exposure was right, the lighting was right, and most important, the framing was right.  But the image did not live up to what you envision.  Learn re-touching techniques that bring back the “alive” feeling, the mood, and all that inspired you when you committed to capture the image.

 Techniques that will be taught in this class will remove the need for tedious selections and endless numbers of steps.  These lessons are developed in such a way to save countless hours in front of your computer screen.  Janice will teach how to get the most out of your workflow, optimizing raw images, noise reduction techniques, global adjustments vs. targeted adjustments, selective enhancements, bringing out detail, applying traditional techniques, black and white images from color capture and creating a style with your retouching.

Janice’s teaching technique is designed to energize and inspire the students to see what is possible in the final steps of image preparation.  Tools to be used include: Photoshop CS4 and the full suite of Nik Software products.


Ken Sklute   “Weddings- It’s All in the Light”

"It's all in the Light!" is a program that covers lighting techniques in detail. I work with and show window light, single flash, multiple flashes, working with various light modifiers, working with tungsten light and of course the mixed bag of existing illumination to capture wedding images. Light is the common denominator and this motivating look into the diverse areas of photography will provide all who attend a new outlook and excitement to get out there and have fun making images with their new found vision! During this hand's on, weeklong course will examine working with high ISO's, time lapse and capturing video to make your weddings take on a very contemporary approach to help you create different vision to attract new, high end clients and place yourself far above your competition!
