 Director’s Message

There is a lot of competition for students these days among the proliferation of week-long schools.  At Triangle Institute we offer years and years of experience, a bright and clean venue with meals included in the tuition and internationally known instructors. All of my staff members have used the knowledge gained as Triangle students to create their own successful businesses.  We value your time and money and promise to provide you with a comfortable and fun week of learning.

Rich and Esther Beitzel      “Basic Portraiture -- It’s That and More!”

Learning the correct techniques of posing and lighting will empower you to handle any situation (except maybe 2-year-olds.)  I always see a lot of activity going on in Rich’s class and some days it even spills out into the lobby. Personally, I’d call the class “Portrait Boot Camp”, but that sounds a bit scary.

Jennifer Hudson and Arthur Levi Rainville   Jen=WPPI Photographer of the Year

“Art and Heart – The Creative Journey -- New Age Artistry meets Old World Charm”

I met Art back in the 90’s, when he first started on the speaking circuit. His program was different than anything I’d seen – more like performance art (no pun intended) – and it looks even more entertaining today.  This is a class that should appeal to you creative thinking types, who don’t like a lot of structure.  Likewise, if you feel your work is stale and want to be coerced into trying something new – take this class.

Suzette Allen and Jon Yoshinaga      “Photoshop for Fun and Profit”

Intermediate-Advanced Level

High ratings and a class that even impressed Mark Campbell made asking Suzette and Jon back for another year a no-brainer.  Why travel to see Suzette when she will be right here in the ‘burgh?  They packed their classroom full in 2009, and will no doubt do the same in 2010.

Tim Kelly     “Success in the Fine Art Portrait Studio 2010”

First of all, this is a SPECIAL and RARE opportunity, as Tim is doing very few schools, and won't likely be back anytime soon.  I attended one of Tim’s in-house weeklong classes just a few years ago – his studio was packed to capacity and the sharing never stopped.  You won’t find a more respected artist or teacher anywhere.

Helen Yancy    “Painter”

Past Institute students have had the opportunity to study Painter with Jeremy Sutton.

You students may enjoy using Jeremy’s approach for your personal work or maybe for competition images, but perhaps not so much for your client work. Helen will be exploring a different approach to the Painter technique - a more classical style that may be of interest to your current client base.

Jen Hillenga     “Miracles in the Moments”   New School Advanced Portraiture

We had Jen here a couple years ago and she was extremely popular. Her work is very fresh and she has received a lot of national acclaim as a teacher. She moves quickly and her work is very emotional.  If you would like to turbo-charge your shooting style, this class would be a good start.

Mike Fulton and Cody Clinton (Tri Coast Photography)

“Cutting Edge Lighting Techniques for Weddings and More”   (Wireless flash tips and tricks)

These guys are tearing it up on the national circuit. If you are one of those photographers who have some decent flash equipment, but are uncomfortable or unhappy with mixing light sources, take this class!

Their style is very dramatic as a result of their off-camera flash techniques.

Briggs and Gray   “Basic to Intermediate Photoshop”

If you are struggling to keep up with the latest version of Photoshop, or just struggling in general, you need to spend a week with Glen and Evert.  This class is for “newbies,” but will also provide a good review for experienced ‘shoppers.

Don Emmerich  “I Want It All”  Intermediate Portraiture/Studio Operations

Don will be going through the gamut of studio operations during his week at Triangle. Many of you know Don from his Photoshop expertise, and now he is ready to share all his wisdom in all the areas of his business.

This would be an excellent class to follow the Basic Course with, as well as a good class for those making the transition from candid to studio shooter.
